Connecting Yahoo Mail to Menvin
Connect your Yahoo Mail account. Yahoo requires an app-specific password for third-party apps.
App Password Required
Yahoo requires app-specific passwords for security. Here's how to generate one:
- Go to Yahoo Account Security and sign in
- Scroll down to "App passwords" section
- Click "Generate app password" or "Manage app passwords"
- Select "Mail" as the app type
- Enter a label like "Menvin" or "Menvin Email"
- Click "Generate"
- Copy the password immediately - you won't be able to see it again!
Make sure IMAP is enabled in your Yahoo Mail settings:
- Go to mail.yahoo.com and sign in
- Click the Settings gear icon (⚙️)
- Go to More Settings → Mailboxes
- Find your email address and click "Edit"
- Under "IMAP Access", ensure it's enabled
- Save your changes
Connect your Yahoo account in Menvin:
- Go to Menvin Connect page
- Select "Yahoo Mail" from the provider dropdown
- The settings will auto-fill:

smtp.mail.yahoo.com - SMTP Port:
587
- IMAP Host:
- Enter your full Yahoo email address as the username

- Give your mailbox a friendly name (e.g., "Personal Yahoo")
- Click "Test connection & save mailbox"
❌ "Authentication failed"
Solution: Yahoo requires an app-specific password. Make sure you're using the app password you generated, not your regular Yahoo account password. Generate a new app password if needed.
❌ "IMAP not enabled"
Solution: Go to Yahoo Mail settings and ensure IMAP access is enabled for your account. You may need to verify your account first.
❌ Can't find "App passwords" option
Solution: Make sure you're signed in to your Yahoo account. The option should be under Account Security settings. If you still can't find it, try accessing it directly from the security page.
