Connecting iCloud Mail to Menvin
Follow these steps to connect your iCloud email account. iCloud requires an app-specific password for security.
Before You Start
- You need an Apple ID with iCloud Mail enabled
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) must be enabled on your Apple ID
- You'll need to generate an app-specific password (we'll show you how)
App-specific passwords require two-factor authentication. If you haven't enabled it yet:
- Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in
- Navigate to Security section
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication if not already enabled
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete setup
You cannot use your regular Apple ID password. You need to generate a special app-specific password:
- Go to appleid.apple.com/account/manage and sign in
- In the Security section, find App-Specific Passwords
- Click Generate Password or the + button
- Enter a label like "Menvin Email" or "Menvin"
- Click Create
- Copy the password immediately - you won't be able to see it again!
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx (four groups of four characters). Save this password - you'll need it in the next step.Now connect your iCloud account in Menvin:
- Go to Menvin Connect page
- Select "iCloud Mail" from the provider dropdown
- The settings will auto-fill:

993 - SMTP Host:
smtp.mail.me.com - SMTP Port:
587
- IMAP Host:
- Enter your full iCloud email address (e.g.,
yourname@icloud.com) as the username - Enter the app-specific password you generated (not your Apple ID password!)
- Give your mailbox a friendly name (e.g., "Personal iCloud")
- Click "Test connection & save mailbox"
❌ "Authentication failed"
Solution: Make sure you're using the app-specific password, not your regular Apple ID password. If you're still having issues, generate a new app-specific password and try again.
❌ "Connection timeout"
Solution: Check that two-factor authentication is enabled on your Apple ID. App-specific passwords require 2FA to be active. Also verify your internet connection.
❌ Can't find "App-Specific Passwords"
Solution: This option only appears when 2FA is enabled. Make sure you've completed the two-factor authentication setup first.
